cycling: UCI Track World Cup #3: Medals for the BDR on the second day as well

19 January 2014 by the editorial office

track1

The Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) can look forward to medals on the second day of the UCI Track World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In the women's 500 time trial, Miriam Welte secured silver with a time of 33,736 seconds behind Anastasiia Voinova of Russia. Third place went to Hong Kong-Chinese Wai Sze Lee. Thanks to second place, Welte was able to secure the overall World Cup in this discipline.

The organizers caused a stir in the men's keirin final. Besides Joachim Eilers from Chemnitz, Azizul Awang (Malaysia) was also disqualified. Both were accused of overtaking the Derny too early. Although the video images showed a different picture, the victory still went to the Dutchman Matthijs Buchli, who prevailed against the Colombian Santiago Ramirez and the British Lewis Alexander Oliva.

track2

Nils Schomber finished ninth in the 4-kilometer pursuit. Here, too, victory went to the Netherlands. Jenning Huizenga had the best race with a time of 4:21,931 minutes.

Australian Scott Sunderland was the fastest over a kilometer, staying under a minute with a time of 59,675 seconds. Chemnitz's Sascha Hübner was ninth. He needed 1:01,343 minutes.
