Clothing: Lawi cross suit: Adaptable one-piece suit

8 January 2014 by the editorial office

Lawi3

The Czech company Lawi has specialized in the production of individually designed cycling clothing. As is to be expected, the portfolio includes not only all kinds of jackets, jerseys and pants, but also gloves and hats. What is special, however, is the possibility of having a cross-piece suit made here. We took a closer look at its basic model.

Lawi2

At first glance, the suit is cut like a normal time trial suit. But if you take a closer look, you will notice some special features. For example, there is a slightly wider, openly sewn zipper on the front. This has the advantage that it does not break as easily as hidden sewn closures. In addition, it appears more practical in connection with the relatively thick tricot area.

The jersey is made of Roubaix material and is fleeced on the inside. This keeps the upper body pleasantly warm even on cooler days. In the race it is enough if you wear a good functional undershirt underneath. The only shortcoming of the jersey: the sleeves are a bit long and therefore wrinkle. A few centimeters less would be appropriate here.

It features a pocket on the back, which is unusual but also optional. On warmer autumn days when you don't wear a vest or jacket over your suit, it's ideal for stowing the bottle in it. In the race itself you can finally hide it under the start number.

The trousers, which are sewn to the jersey in the hip area, have a total of eight panels of fabric. These are neatly sewn together and closed at the lower waistband with two rubber bands with silicone dots. This keeps the trousers well on the skin and does not slip - with or without knee or leg warmers. Inside the pants is Lawi's finest padding. In terms of quality, this is in no way inferior to that of the industry leaders in this area. On the contrary, the real face of the upholstery will only be appreciated after several washes.

In use itself, the suit leaves no room for criticism. It is perfectly suited for its intended purpose. Like any one-piece suit, it can be put on quickly with a little practice, but once it's in place, it fits. The suit does not know an unsightly slipping. It is also nice that you can also design the basic model yourself. Our test model was in the De Luxe-Design Lawis designed - however, each club or lone fighter can also realize its own design in consultation with the German distributor Rothaí Sports. And the sponsors are happy about that too.

//Conclusion

The Lawi cross suit is a successful one-piece suit for the cold half of the year. Thanks to its fleeced jersey area, it also provides warmth in adverse conditions. In combination with the well-made trousers and the very comfortable upholstery, hardly any wishes remain unfulfilled. Only the sleeves could be a little shorter.
