At the 6-day race in Berlin, Leif Lampater and Jasper de Buyst were able to extend their lead on the second night. The German-Belgian duo leads the overall standings, now one lap ahead of their remaining competitors and with 121 points. They are followed by Kenny de Ketele and Andreas Müller as well as Robert Bartko and Theo Reinhardt with 88 and 72 points respectively.

"We experienced first-class cycling in front of a great Berlin audience", the sports director Dieter Stein drew a positive conclusion after the second day. “Our drivers showed their best side in all disciplines. We have an exciting weekend ahead of us. And I'm sure that we will experience a gripping final fight in the women's race on Saturday."

The first hunt of the evening over 30 minutes was won by the young Dutch talent Yoeri Havik and the Czech Vojtech Hacecky in front of Lampater and De Buyst as well as De Ketele and Müller. The vice world champions and co-favourites for overall victory, David Muntaner and Albert Torres, were very unlucky when Muntaner fell and lacerated his chin. The duo finished the race neutralized in sixth place and were able to continue the competition after Muntaner was treated. In the big hunt, the hour of the local heroes Robert Bartko and Theo Reinhardt came, who asserted themselves against Havik and Hacecky and Brisse as well as Grasmann.

In the "Esso World Cup of Stayers", yesterday's winner Robert Retschke confidently defended his lead with second place. Born in Bernau, he now has a two-point lead over Swiss Mario Birrer and local hero Florian Fernow, who won today's race together with pacemaker Peter Bäuerlein.

In the "Wolfram Champions Sprint International" Robert Förstemann also defended his top position in the overall standings. The man with the thickest thighs missed his own lap record by just nine-thousandths of a second, but still managed to win. Behind Förstemann are Maximilian Levy and Erik Balzer in second and third place.

In the women's category, Stephanie Pohl underlined her ambition to win and took over the overall lead from Lisa Küllmer. Before the final day, the Cottbus native now has a fairly comfortable lead of five points over Küllmer and Slovakian Alzbeta Pavlendova.
