cycling: The Iron War: The film about the legendary fight between Mark Allen and Dave Scott

12 October 2013 by the editorial office

To get you in the mood for the 35th Ironman Hawaii, which will take place tonight based on our latitude, we have selected the documentary for you about what is probably the most spectacular and legendary race. The 1989 edition went down in history as "The Iron War". To date, the American Dave Scott had won the most important triathlon event in the world six times. But now Mark Allen should outstrip him.

From the beginning both were close together and showed no weaknesses. They swam together, rode together and ran together without talking to each other or looking at each other insecurely. Only shortly before the end did Allen, who ran the fastest marathon in triathlon history that day with 2:40:04 hours, managed to break away from Scott and took 58 seconds off him by the finish. His winning time: 8:09:15 hours. The rest of the competition followed at a good distance.
