cycling: Sabine Spitz starts at the Marathon-DM in Münsingen

2 October 2013 by Rick Schubert

After Sabine Spitz was injured at the beginning of the season and celebrated a phenomenal comeback, winning the German Championship title as well as the World Cup in Hafjell, the exceptional athlete injured herself again during a training run for the World Championships in Pietermaritzburg. She injured her shoulder so badly that participation in the World Cup had to be cancelled. Thus, the premature end of the season seemed sealed. After her shoulder joint fracture had healed and the stitches were pulled, Spitz now decided to start at the marathon championships in Münsingen. Spitz has already won the German championship title in the marathon discipline three times. Once there in 2005 in Münsingen.

“The frustration, the disappointment was there, no question. But I think it's probably legitimate to ask the question of meaning in a situation like this. I'm just a fighter and after the first phase I got over it and said to myself, I can't stop like this. I was already in Norway to look at the 2014 World Championship course.", according to Spitz.
