Lukas Baum is one of the most talented XC riders of recent years. This season, the young Neustadter increasingly impressed by winning his first "triple" secured: German Champion, European Champion and World Champion (the first Junior World Champion title for Germany ever)! An almost unbelievable performance that Lukas Baum has achieved this season. While Lukas drove towards his rainbow jersey in Pietermaritzburg, we were able to marvel at his work equipment at the Eurobike. The picture above shows the bike specially built for the World Cup. The deer R.R2 HT 29, which we saw at the fair, Baum used in previous World Cups.
As we were able to find out, Lukas Baum relies on a series frame without an extra adapted geometry. Even the equipment is largely similar to the production model. There are, however, a few small, significant details. The German junior world champion uses spring elements from DT-Swiss. The XMM 100 Single Shotsuspension fork weighs 1538 grams and offers two riding modes. It can be lured at any time via the remote lever on the handlebars.
The 29er wheelset also comes from DT-Swiss. The XRC 950T 29set was specially developed for the XC World Cup and is said to have good rigidity values thanks to ceramic ball bearings and carbon rims. Since the set was designed for tubular tires, Baum uses hand-made Dugast tires - the reference in the off-road sector. "Racing is my absolute passion. Here I have to be able to rely on my material in particular in order to be among the best in the world. My race hardtail is the perfect tool for the super-fast World Cup races"So Baum.
