Danish Ironman European Champion Camilla Pedersen suffered skull fractures in a serious training accident and was placed in a medically induced coma. "Her condition is critical but stable ," her coach Michael Krüger told Danish media. The serious accident occurred during a training ride near the Danish city of Esbjerg. Pedersen collided with a car that braked in front of her to let a group of children cross the road. The Danish long-distance triathlete was considered one of the favorites for the Ironman World Championship on October 12 in Hawaii. She had qualified for it with her victory in Frankfurt.
