When it comes to the question of whether riser bar or flat bar, opinions differ. The market offers countless handlebar models that have a wide variety of features. Just a few weeks ago we tested a riser bar on our all-mountain bike, the Canyon CF 8.0. In return, we now installed the "Carbon SL top flat bar" from XLC in combination with the "Pro SL Alu A-Head"-Stem.

The handlebars are 700 millimeters wide, with a nine-degree backward and six-degree upward tilt. Visually, the handlebar is a real eye-catcher. The flat bar, which weighs just 193 grams, impresses with a mix of matt and glossy surface finishes. The stem comes in a plain white and offers an angle of inclination of plus or minus seven degrees, just as you like.

On the trail, the handlebar-stem combination is quite inconspicuous. The handlebars provide a very comfortable ride, but you have to get used to the typical flat bar ride. The rigidity of the "Carbon SL top flat bar". There was only minimal flexing, which provided very direct feedback. A width of 700 millimeters seems perfect for the Canyon. A comfortable lever to keep control at high speed and perfect for gripping and applying pressure on climbs.
