# The water in the "Ström" was only 15° warm.
The seventh round of the ITU World Triathlon Series not only found an enthusiastic audience in Stockholm, but also an exciting and demanding course. So it's no wonder that the world's elite of short-term specialists gathered in the Swedish capital.
# Stockholm greeted the short-haul world elite with the best weather.
The men's race started again with a strong swimming performance by the Slovak Richard Varga, who finished the swim course in the "stream" finished as the fastest. In his tow, the three currently strongest specialists on the Olympic distance, Jonathan and Alistair Brownlee as well as Javier Gómez, switched to cycling. Alistair Brownlee, the reigning Olympic champion, once again demonstrated his tactical finesse. The Briton, who is known as a good cyclist, escaped from the leading group seven kilometers before the change and did not let himself be caught during the final run. Behind him, Gómez was second with Jonathan Brownlee third. Best German was Jonathan Zipf in 11th place.
# Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee was the first to hit the track.
Alistair Brownlee will also be the overall leader of the ITU World Triathlon Series in the final in London in a few weeks. There he then has to defend himself against his brother and the Spaniard Gómez.
# Gwen Jorgensen was in a class of her own in Stockholm.
In the women's category, American Gwen Jorgensen, the big favorite, also secured victory. Thanks to a strong mileage, she relegated the Briton Non Stanfort and the Saarbrücken native Anne Haug to the places.
