# Royal splendor at the premiere: Crown Prince Frederik chose the Ironman.
The Ironman in Copenhagen attracted more than 200.000 spectators to the Danish capital. They duly celebrated the premiere of the race and were not disappointed by the athletes. Probably the best-known of them was Crown Prince Frederik, who celebrated his long-distance premiere in the residence of the Danish royal family. He needed 10:45:32 hours for the energy-sapping hunt through his future empire.
# In total, more than 2500 starters set off in the morning.
# Wind tunnel technology for the most prominent starter of the day.
But not only Frederik inspired the masses. Especially the Austrian Eva Wutti knew how to impress. She narrowly missed the Ironman world record for women. With a time of 8:37:36 hours, she ranks third in this ranking behind Chrissie Wellington from the UK and Caroline Steffen from Switzerland. “When I looked at the watch at the finish, I could hardly believe it. I thought someone turned the clock,” said the visibly overwhelmed Wutti at the finish.
# Visibly impressed by her own performance: Eva Wutti.
The Dane Jens Petersen-Bach was the strongest among the men. With a winning time of 8:12:41, he relegated the competition to their places. Behind him, his compatriots Henrik Hyldelund and Esben Hovgaard completed the podium.
