The Münster-based Fabian Wegmann, who now lives in Freiburg and is a three-time German champion, will again be driving for the Garmin-Sharp team this year. The Americans will be equipped by Cervélo, with the team riders using the models S5, R3 and R5 be available. Fabian Wegmann chose the latter model, which we took a closer look at.

Compared to the bikes of his teammates, the first thing that stands out is that the mechanics marked the bike with adhesive strips in the colors of the German champion. In addition, Wegmanns R5 but also some other peculiarities. That's what Shimanos are on the bike Dura Ace 7900 Di2 installed. This is notable in that the frame doesn't offer a way to route the cables internally. Here, the mechanics resorted to tape and cable ties to the rear derailleur and front derailleur "to set in motion".

As usual for Cervélo, the bike comes with the in-house BBright™- Bottom bracket installed a crankset from Rotor. Here Wegmann grabs one 3D + with rotors noQ- Disc blades that have a translation from 53 to 39 teeth. He combines this with a 10-speed cassette with a gradation from 11 to 25 teeth. A rotor chain catcher is installed on the front derailleur to prevent damage to the frame if the chain jumps off.

Stem, handlebars and seat post are from 3T. Here's a mix of LTD- and Teamcomponents installed. The ARX-Stem and the classic Resounding-Handlebars are from the Team series. As a support, however, is a Dorico LTD with a diameter of 27,2 millimeters in the frame. Since fi'zi:k is one of the team sponsors, this has an unlabelled saddle from Selle Italia.
